    The Global Controller will be responsible for the leadership, development and execution of the company’s global controllership function, including financial operations and FP&A. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will bring both strategic vision and best-practices to guide the team coupled with a hands-on and tactical approach to enable effective implementation. The individual will demonstrate strong business judgment applied to routine and complex financial and accounting issues.  The Global Controller will be a proven executive with experience leading or significantly contributing to a global high-performing financial, accounting and control organization.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning

    • Drive global analysis of business performance results and key performance measures to support business prioritization, strategy and decision making. Drive more robust forecasting tools and metrics.
    • Manage all Regional/Division controllers to provide guidance and control on all operational and strategic issues. Work with Regional Controllers to provide regional leaders with strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections., cost identification and asset allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
    • Partner with Leadership Teams to develop and execute Annual and Long-Range Plans based on an in-depth understanding of business and operations
    • Contribute to the vision and implementation of strategic plans, capital investments, acquisitions, restructuring projects and critical ad-hoc opportunities.
    • Effectively communicate and explain data to management to drive key decisions.

    Financial Reporting & Controls

    •  Manage and control the financial activites, transactions & resources of the organization.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of Regional financial information in compliance with Methode policies and GAAP
    • Lead global revenue recognition policies and procedures and ensure consistent and standard revenue accounting in accordance with GAAP with the recent adoption of ASC 606.
    • Act as an agent of change to drive improved efficiency within the accounting function and streamline processes and procedures. Optimize and automate accounting processes to drive a more efficient monthly, quarterly, annual close.
    • Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP.
    • Stay current with technical accounting, regulatory and financial reporting developments to ensure compliance with current and developing standards and regulations.
    • Assist with acquisition due diligence and post-closing integration
    • Manage the third-party valuation process for acquisitions and annual goodwill impairment testing. 

    Operations Analysis & Planning

    • Deliver short and long-term forecasting
    • Provide measurable and accurate financial targets to evaluate the financial performance of the business
    • Evaluate projects that support additional investment or enhance the current deployment of assets and resources with the goal of improving the profitability of the organization
    • Continuously analyze processes and identify actions to reduce complexity in finance and manufacturing
    • Articulate business strategies and performance

    People Leadership and Talent Development

    • Develop and lead a global team focused on profitable growth, improving customer satisfaction and simplifying business process.
    • Work with the SOX manager, proactively review and rationalize the internal control risk-control matrices and offer actionable solutions to make the control environment more efficient and robust.
    • Monitor the control environment and operational risk requirements, including development and maintenance of metrics across business.
    • Partner effectively with non-accounting / finance team members to drive improved controls and process enhancements.
    • Champion the effective use of change management principles, strategies and techniques to plan implement and evaluate change.
    • Build a strong finance organization and develop talent within the team supporting succession planning for the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 15+ years of experience in accounting
    • Experience in a large complex US publicly-traded company required
    • Experience with private equity a plus
    • CPA Certification
    • BA/BS in Accounting
    • MBA preferred
    • Experience in manufacturing environment with a solid understanding of cost accounting
    • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting and analysis, cost reduction, inventory control, tracking and managing costs against a budget and tracking P&L results
    • International experience working with overseas financial operations and controls
    • Demonstrated ability to be a business partner/advisor to Regional/Divisional Management
    • Strong negotiation, influence and collaboration skills
    • Experience translating KPI’s into immediate improvement actions increasing revenues/decreasing costs
    • Demonstrated ability to remain objective and independent as a guardian of good business practices and controls
    • Able to troubleshoot and manage the risks inherent in growth initiatives
    • Experience with purchase accounting and third-party valuations
    • Knowledge of accounting policy, GAAP accounting and business services functions
    • Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • Relevant cross-functional experience (finance, operations, IT, HR, project management, etc)
    • Willingness to travel as necessary (approximately 25% -45%)
